Via Ferrata in Ogden Utah
I had the pleasure of climbing a via ferrata route in Ogden Utah yesterday. Via ferrata, or "iron way" is a system of fixed-protection climbing popularized in the Alps where there are hundreds of routes aided by ladders, rungs, and bridges. No climbing experience necessesary, just clip in to the fixed cable, and you're off climbing. It's amazing fun and enables a wide range of outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the vertical world. Great fun for families, youth, and non-climbing partners.
Ogden's Waterfall Canyon features two beautifully-designed routes and hopefully there will be more on the way. Currently, there are only 3 via ferrata climbing areas in the US (the other two are in Kentucky and North Carolina), so if you're in the are, check them out.
